Two more companies have faced hefty fines for excessive silent calls by industry regular OFCOM. Green Deal Savings and MYIML were found to have broken the rules and have been fined £20,000 each.
Silent calls happen when companies using predictive diallers too aggressively do not have sufficient telemarketing agents available to handle the calls when presented. Ofcom and The ICO have been stronger in their approach to this legislation in recent years. Another case is pending with South American based Sambora Communications.
