There are some major developments at the world's 2nd largest call centre outsourcing company, Convergys. They plan to hire 500 additional employees in Tennessee, 400 in North Carolina, 400 in Colorado, 245 in Florida, 900 in Missouri and 300 in The UK in addition to opening a new call centre in The Dominican Republic.
Converso have announced that they are adding 100 additional call centre agents at their centre in Southend-on-Sea, UK after recent client wins.
Sykes have announced that they will no longer be closing a call centre in Oregon after winning a new contract which will actually add 50 new positions in addition to maintaining the current jobs.
Hinduja Global Services have
announced that they have won the contract to handle
calls and emails for Danone UK.
It is unclear whether these will be based in
The UK or in their offshore contact centres.
HGS are also expanding in Nova Scotia,
Teleperformance will open 2 new call centres and add 3,000 agents in The Philippines within the next year. Teleperformance are now the 2nd largest call centre vendor in The Philippines after its acquisition of Aegis and is currently growing faster than Convergys who are currently the largest.
Teletech appear to be changing their strategy and opening more US call centres as opposed to expanding offshore. This is believed to be driven by client demand which is after more domestic agents as opposed to offshore. They are expanding in Montana & Texas.
Westpac are to close 2 call centres in Australia with the loss of over 200 jobs.
