SITEL has made a number of announcements this week with a key one that it is raising its salary for its call centre agents by 25% at its Glasgow site and will also add another 70 jobs there. In The United States, they are adding 250 jobs at a call centre in Texas.
Parseq have announced that they have bought charity focussed call centre Pure who have operations in Brighton. This adds to Parseq's other charity focussed call centre company, Pell & Bales which was the subject of a Despatches investigation on Channel 4 recently.
Aegis are apparently waiting to announce a replacement for Khawar Ali in their UK business development team. Aegis now have a far smaller footprint and the successor will be responsible for selling their services delivered from centres in Manchester, South Africa and India.
In Ghana, the operation run by Teletech for their client Vodafone is back in operation as the strike there ended. The dispute was over poor working conditions.
There are no new announcements from Teleperformance in The UK this week but they have been busy in The United States. They are to open a new call centre in Kentucky and also add another 500 jobs in Indiana
Convergys have been busy expanding their nearshore capabilities to service the United States market place with the announcement of 700 new hires in Costa Rica 250 in Nova Scotia Canada.
Also, in the United States, APAC are adding 750 jobs and West will add 100 new positions in Reno, Nevada but Sykes will close its 200 seat call centre in Milton-Freewater.
