BT agent takes 1 millionth call
BT has hailed the efforts of call centre
operator Laurie Mitchell, who has handled more
than one million consumer queries in his time
with the company.
Mr Mitchell, who works in BT's Bangor
facility, will become one of the few customer
service advisers to rack up 30 years of
employment with the telecoms giant in January
2011.
The 57-year-old endures a 100-mile round trip
every day he comes to work, but insisted he
still harbours no thoughts of quitting..
Calculations have shown the worker typically
handles 490 calls every day, which led him to
comment: "There are times when it can be hard
and upsetting, but also funny and occasionally
memorable. I wouldn't have it any other way."
Managing director for customer service at BT
Warren Buckley added Mr Mitchell is a "model
employee".
