BBC3 has so far shown 2 episodes of their fly-on-the-wall documentary 'The Call Centre' based at an outbound telemarketing operation in Swansea. However, it's now been revealed that 2 of the companies involved in the show have been fined for making nuisance calls.
The 2 companies involved are Nationwide Energy Services & We Claim You Gain. Both companies are part of Save Britain Money Limited which is the company featured in the show and owned by the star 'Nev Wilshire'.
Nationwide Energy Services conduct cold calls to arrange appointments for insulation services and We Claim You Gain help individuals to claim for mis-sold payment protection insurance. The 2 companies were fined a total of '225,000 after the Telephone Preference Service received 2,700 complaints between May 2001 and December 2012. The Information Commissioners Office found that the companies had failed to make adequate checks that the individuals they were calling had opted out of receiving such calls.
