B2C telemarketing (otherwise known as business to consumer telemarketing) is the process of calling individuals at their home (or increasingly on their mobile phones). The scope of telemarketing to consumers covers many areas including the following:
- Welcome calls to new customers. For example, this happens after a new customer has bought a product or service from you. These types of calls be simply a good will gesture, to explain how a product or service works or to sell additional products or services. These calls are typically not governed by The Telephone Preference Service
- Lead generation calls. These are calls designed a pre-cursors to follow up marketing activity normally in the form of an additional phone call. Lead generation include a type of call typically known as lifestyle surveys which ask a series of questions designed to generate multiple types of leads.
- Sales calls. These are calls whose ultimate aim is to make a sale of a product or service. This may or may not include taking payment details such as credit card information.
